About the book…
This little book
contains a collection of photos of some of the novelty prints found in the
Victoria and Albert Museum textile collection. It begins with a brief
introduction about novelty prints and also includes a cd that has all the
patterns pictured in the book on it for personal use.
What I think…
This is my only book from this series (although, I do have one of their
larger ones) and I really don’t know why I don’t have more.
It’s beautifully bound
with a hardcover, glossy pages, and a ribbon bookmark. The images which are the
focus of the book are of high quality. Each is accompanied by a short
description that includes the manufacturer of the fabric, fabric type, and the
year it was made, which is great if you want to look up more about some aspect
about it or are just interested in looking at the difference in prints in the years
covered.
Its compact size (5 ¼ x 7 ¼ x ¼) makes it perfect to tuck into a
bag when you’re on the go and want something nice to flip through in a short
amount of time.
To sum it all up…
A lovely little book that isn’t too overwhelming when it comes to information,
but still offers a lot in terms of images that make you feel like you’re
looking through a fabric sample book of the 30’s and 40’s. ♥
