On a Cat in a Hat: A Photo Post

Well, this year has started off slow in regard to getting anything posted. Hoping to remedy this is coming weeks.

For now, though, to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday, may I present you with a cat in a hat?

On the Final Hundred Acre Wood Residents!

Well, my ongoing Winnie-the-Pooh sewing projects made using the patterns in The Pooh Craft Book started in June of last year have come to an end, as over the past three months I finished the final three!

Rabbit was completed the end of September, Winnie-the-Pooh the last weekend of October, and Tigger two days ago. 

There's not much to say about them since they were all very straightforward when it came to piecing them together. Rabbit was probably the most simplistic of the entire bunch and went together in a few hours, I left Pooh's eyebrows off and am not sure if I'll be adding them in the future, and Tigger ended up last because he was going to need the stripes painted on, which was not something I was looking forward to (painting felt is not a pleasure). The painting was actually a pretty quick process, though, since I wasn't going for precise and detailed stripes and they came out decently.

 

All in all a lovely Hundred Acre group, I would say! And now I need to find a new literary sewing project!

On a Pig Pin

Once again the month is going by faster than I can get posts up and since the weather hasn't exactly been ideal in my area lately I haven't been able to wear any of the sewing projects I want to share. 

This tiny and quickly made project doesn't depend on the weather, though, so I present to you my pig pin!

On Some Walruses and a Seal: A Photo Post

It's nice to wake up in the morning and see the 60's baby walrus that escaped it's box at the foot of my bed.

The other residents of the box are awfully cute too!

On More Elephants

I was going to make a dress, but then I became distracted and made 3 1/2 inch elephants instead.

On How I "Felt" Compelled...

...to make several pins out of felt this month (sorry, but not really, for the pun). Normally, I do the majority of my felt crafting in December for Christmas related things, but every once in awhile I decide that I want to step away from sewing on a larger scale and end up coming up with something or other that I deem felt worthy.  

This month I went in for animal pins. Earlier in the month I made two cats, one purple and one black. I wanted a more 50's bowling pin shape than the metal 60's pin I have and am pretty happy with them.

Last night, in light of Easter, spring, and my shockingly complete lack of jewelry with rabbits, I whipped up a quick bunny pin. I goofed on the legs a bit, but it actually turned out better because of my mistake.
