On "The ‘Possum that Didn’t": A Book Review

(Edit: Forgot to add the photo when I first posted. Sorry!)

Title: The ‘Possum that Didn’t
Author: Frank L. Taslin
Genre: Adult Fiction

About the book…
By the author of The Bear that Wasn’t (reviewed here), The ‘Possum that Didn’t is about a smiley ‘possum who was happily living in the forest until some people from the city come across him one day hanging from his tree. The city people insist that he should smile, despite him telling them that he is, and as a result drag him to the city where they proceed to take him (hanging upside down in his tree) to a movie and a nightclub.

What I think…
Being so short there’s very little to say about this novella. While technically it’s mostly pictures, it offers a good reminder that sometimes you need to look at the perspectives of others before you try to impose your own on them. Tashlin presents this in a simplified manner that makes this seem like a children’s book (as with The Bear That Wasn’t), which I think overall makes it more poignant.

The illustrations by Tashlin are charming with special attention to details that really make the story.

To sum it all up…

Not as fun or as funny as The Bear that Wasn’t, but a good book to make you think about perspectives.  ♥️
